Decode an F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 or F-600 body code—or find the code that matches the work truck you need.

A Ford Super Duty body code is a three-character identifier used to describe a basic truck configuration when reviewing inventory or preparing a factory order. This decoder covers pickups and chassis cabs across F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600.
For example, W2B identifies an F-250 Crew Cab 4×4 pickup with single rear wheels. W3H identifies an F-350 Crew Cab 4×4 chassis cab with dual rear wheels. Similar codes can describe different vehicles, so checking only the series or cab description is not enough.
SRW means single rear wheels. DRW means dual rear wheels. CA means cab-to-axle—the distance used when matching a chassis cab to a commercial body. The listed dimensions are combinations in the reference guides, not a guarantee that every trim, engine or option combination is available.

Use Decode a Body Code for a listing or order code such as F3G or W4D. Lowercase letters and surrounding parentheses are accepted.
Review the model year, exact wheelbase, box or cab-to-axle length, powertrain, weights and equipment with Ford before ordering or arranging an upfit.
A pickup and a chassis cab can share a series name and cab style while serving different applications. A business shopping for an F-350 service truck needs to verify the underlying chassis before comparing listings or selecting a body.
Use the body code to narrow a vehicle search, then work through passengers, tools, cargo, trailer requirements and the finished upfit. Review commercial upfit planning early, and coordinate the purchase with your fleet replacement plan.
This reference includes 46 body codes matched to Ford source tables. Open a series to review its codes without using the interactive tool. The reference basis is the Ford 2027 order-guide editions dated May 8, 2026; see the source and model-year notes below.

Tell me the model year, body code or configuration you are considering, what the truck will carry or tow, and whether you need a service body, flatbed, dump body or other commercial equipment.
There is no cost or pressure. The goal is to help you choose a truck configured for the work your business needs it to do.
Include your body code and desired model year in the comments or configuration summary.
A three-character body code identifies a basic vehicle configuration. In this reference it identifies the F-Series model, cab, drivetrain, pickup or chassis-cab body type, and single or dual rear wheels. It does not describe a complete build.
Both identify an F-350 Crew Cab 4×2 chassis cab. W3E is single rear wheel (SRW); W3G is dual rear wheel (DRW). Likewise, F3E and F3G distinguish SRW and DRW Regular Cab 4×2 chassis cabs. Always compare the full order specification.
Yes. F4C/F4D and W4C/W4D identify Regular Cab and Crew Cab F-450 pickups. F4G/F4H, X4G/X4H and W4G/W4H identify F-450 chassis cabs. Both groups use dual rear wheels, but they are different vehicle configurations.
Not always. One code can cover several lengths. For example, W2B includes Crew Cab 4×4 F-250 pickups with different box lengths and wheelbases. F5H includes several Regular Cab F-550 4×4 chassis-cab wheelbase and cab-to-axle combinations. Select the exact combination separately.
No. Those details depend on additional equipment and the completed vehicle. A body code alone does not establish engine, axle ratio, GVWR, payload, towing capacity, seating, trim or upfit compatibility. Use the specific vehicle labels and current Ford documentation.
Do not assume they are interchangeable. A pickup ordered with a box-delete option retains its pickup-based configuration. Review the frame, cab-to-axle dimension, equipment and upfitter requirements for the actual order.
This tool accepts a three-character body code, not a complete 17-character VIN. For a specific vehicle, verify the full VIN, model year and order or window-sticker information together.
An unrecognized code is flagged as unverified; the tool does not guess. Ford can change codes, specifications and available combinations. Verify every result with Ford for the specific model year and order before purchasing, leasing or arranging an upfit.
This reference was reviewed September 30, 2026 using Ford-authored 2027 Super Duty order guides dated May 8, 2026: Pickup, body-style table on page 15, and Chassis Cab, body-style table on page 13. Code identities were cross-checked against Ford’s 2026 VIN documentation filed with NHTSA, pages 22–23. The order-guide links below are publicly hosted copies of Ford documents.
Codes, specifications, equipment and availability can change. This tool is a planning reference, not a final order specification or availability confirmation. Verify the code and complete vehicle configuration with Ford for the specific model year and order. No engine, trim, payload, towing rating or unverified code meaning is inferred. This page covers Super Duty truck codes. For cargo or passenger vans, use the separate Ford Transit body code decoder.
